My family and I had just wrapped up a fabulous stay at another luxury resort in Ubud, Bali, and we were ready for some beach time fun. Andaz was perfect for that, and beyond. Sanur: Where Quiet Meets Convenience

If you’re after the hustle and bustle of Kuta or Seminyak, then Sanur might not be your jam. But, if you’re looking for a quieter corner of Bali that’s still easily accessible to all the good stuff, this place is perfection. The charm of Sanur lies in its peaceful beach walks, the lack of crowds, and the genuine local vibe.
And then, there’s the Andaz itself—a luxury resort that effortlessly blends into its surroundings. It’s the kind of place where you can still enjoy the finer things, but without the overwhelm. You can take in the lush gardens, cool off in the pool, or just wander down to the beach for a sunset, all without feeling rushed.
Unexpected Luxury: The Little Things That Matter
Sometimes, the best parts of a vacation aren’t the massive meals or the perfect ocean view. It’s the unexpected touches—the small moments that make all the difference. Andaz Bali nails this.
The welcome amenities alone could’ve sold me on the place. Fresh coconut water (served straight from the coconut, of course), sparkling water, local cakes, fruits—my idea of a warm welcome. Add to that the complimentary mini-bar (minus the alcohol), restocked daily —I could have lived in that room forever, just sipping coconut water and eating fresh snacks.
Oh, and the bath bomb? It was a magical touch that made my evening soak feel like the kind of indulgence you don’t want to come down from.
Lagoon Access & A Room Fit for a Family
I stayed in the King Bed Lagoon Access Room, and I have to say, I’ve never felt more relaxed. With a baby, you tend to be hyper-aware of space (and noise), but this room was an oasis. The floor-to-ceiling windows provided an uninterrupted view of the lagoon, and the spacious layout allowed my little one to crawl around without (too much) fear of bumping into anything. Plus, the easy access to the lagoon meant we could take baby steps (literally) out to the water without going too far.
The bathroom, oh the bathroom—was a dream. There was more than enough room for all of us (yes, even the baby) to get ready in the morning, with double vanities and a giant bathtub that made me almost forget that I had to leave at some point. I’ll be honest, the oversized bathtub became my happy place—thanks to the bath bomb they left for me—and I fully took advantage of that in the evenings after the baby was tucked into bed. Can you say “self-care”?
A Room for Every Traveler: Variety and Comfort for All
Whether you’re a solo traveler seeking a peaceful retreat, a couple on a romantic getaway, or a family in need of space and comfort, Andaz Bali offers a range of villa and room types to suit every need. The property features spacious Lagoon Access Rooms, like the one I stayed in, which offer direct access to the serene lagoon for a seamless blend of indoor-outdoor living. For those seeking more privacy or a touch of indulgence, the resort also offers stunning pool villas, each with its own private garden and plunge pool, perfect for those who want a secluded escape. And for families or larger groups, the expansive Ocean View Suites or multi-bedroom villas provide ample space, luxurious amenities, and plenty of room to stretch out and enjoy the beauty of Bali without feeling cramped. No matter your style of travel, there’s a perfect room or villa waiting for you at Andaz Bali.

The Beach, the Pools, and the Lagoon: Living the Dream
Andaz Bali has three stunning pools (one kids pool, one public pool and one adults-only pool), each of which I had to drag myself out of—mostly because it’s just so damn easy to float around in that perfect water all day long. My baby loved splashing around, and I loved being able to sit in the shallow areas, watching the little one while enjoying the beautiful surroundings. But the lagoon access from my room made it even better. The serene, emerald waters were so inviting; it felt like I was living in a dream where the beach was always just a step away.
For those of you who think Bali’s beaches are too crowded or too touristy, let me just say this: Sanur’s soft sands and calm waters will spoil you. The Andaz beach isn’t overrun, and it’s perfect for lounging, walking, or just being. The low-key vibe makes it feel like your own little private beach club.
Dining & Fresh Delights: A Feast for the Senses
One of my absolute favorite things about the Andaz Bali was the dining. And let me tell you, this place knows how to treat your tastebuds. From the beautifully presented dishes at the village square that consists of four intertwining restaurants: Wok Wok, featuring Indonesian local favorites, Blue Oven that offers Mediterranean cuisines, Fire Fox that is an Asian steakhouse and Deli & Bakery that serves coffee, tea, dessert and more, to the deliciously fresh seafood at the beachfront Fisherman’s Club, each meal was a highlight.
We enjoyed everything we had there. Breakfast was free flow a la carte style instead of your typical buffet affairs, which we loved! For dinner, I recommend ordering the Fisherman’s seafood platter. Everything on our plate was freshly caught, delish! The restaurant’s beachfront location made every meal feel like a celebration of life, and with the ocean right there, the air, the breeze—it just felt magical.
We also snuck in a room service dinner during our stay, and was pleased to have our food served nice and warm. A quick tip: the resort is very popular with South Korean tourists, and there’s an in-house Korean chef who whips up authentic Bibimbap, Kimchi Jiggae and more! A refreshing change for when you are tired of the western usuals and satay.
Boutique Bliss & Afternoon Tea Delights
One of the unexpected joys of staying at Andaz Bali is the hotel’s charming boutique, which offers a curated selection of local artisan products, from handwoven textiles to handcrafted jewelry. It’s the perfect spot to pick up a little piece of Bali to take home with you, whether you’re in the market for something luxurious or simply want to support local crafts. After browsing the boutique, head over to the complimentary Afternoon Tea Lounge for a leisurely pause. The cozy, intimate setting invites you to sip on fragrant teas while indulging in a selection of freshly baked pastries, cakes, and local snacks.
Family-Friendly Fun and Kid-Approved Programs
While I wasn’t planning to make this a family-centric vacation, I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the Andaz Bali’s thoughtful approach to keeping little ones entertained. Their kids’ program is one of those low-key but well-executed offerings that makes you feel like your child is in good hands, but not at the expense of your own relaxation.
For my little one, the Turtle Conservation program was a heartwarming touch. We got to feed the turtles with fish paste and cabbage, and learn about the hotel’s effort is conserving turtles. And, though my child was too young to participate, it was nice knowing that there were plenty of activities designed for children of all ages. Even if you’re only dipping your toes into parenting mode, there’s something special about exposing your kids to local culture and conservation efforts in a way that feels authentic and meaningful.
And then, there’s the Balinese Kul-Kul Parade in the evenings. It’s a celebration of Balinese culture that takes place right at the resort, involving all interested children (and adults!) with the traditional kul-kul (the bamboo bells) signaling the arrival of an ancient Balinese ritual. It was absolutely adorable seeing all these kids dressed in traditional Balinese outfits (provided by the kids club), banging on bamboos and waving at everyone. Even if your little one is just trying to grab everything within reach (which, let’s be honest, that’s always happening), it’s a moment you’ll all remember.
A Stay to Remember
Ultimately, what sets Andaz Bali apart, is how they manage to offer a luxury experience while staying in tune with the rhythm of family life. Whether it’s enjoying a Balinese cultural experience, taking a swim with your baby, or simply soaking up the peaceful vibe of Sanur, it’s a hotel that feels both indulgent and accessible.
So, yes, Bali is full of jaw-dropping places, but if you’re looking for a mix of seclusion, luxury, and a bit of that quiet magic, Andaz Bali in Sanur should be at the top of your list. As for me, I’ll be dreaming about that oversized bathtub for way too long.
